'Safeguarding' is becoming a big problem, and not just because it's being weaponised against conservatives, says Mary Gilleece. Children are being put at risk as criminal conduct is tolerated under 'safeguarding' rules.

Pride (Bono's Game of Blood)

category international | arts and media | opinion/analysis author Saturday August 05, 2006 00:14author by Bucko - Caliche con Carneauthor email calicheconarne at yahoo dot comauthor address PO Box 2815 Tucson, AZ 85702 Report this post to the editors

Parody of U2 song--re. Bono's involvement in purchase of military contracting video game company

This is a parody of a U2 song, spurred by Bono's involvement in the purchase of a video game company that contracts with the US military, and is about to release a video game based on mercenaries taking over the nation of Venezuela.

In case you haven't heard, U2's Bono sits
on the board of a company that bought and united with a
video game company which also contracts for projects with
the Defense Department. They're soon coming out with a
video game built around taking over the streets of Caracas
and overthrowing the Venezuelan government.

My band, Caliche con Carne, did a parody of the U2 song
"Pride (In the Name of Love)". It's called "Pride (Bono's
Game of Blood)". You can hear the song, and a few others
we're working on if you go to:

http://www.mockbrawn.com/bands/caliche/mp3/

By the way, we did this in a hurry, in my friend's living room, on less than pro equipment, and it has wierd
effects on the voices--kind of Pycho-delic Country stuff.

Here are the words if you want to sing along!

"Pride (Bono's Game of Blood)"

A rock star comes with a game of blood,
a rock star comes with some cash to blow,
a rock star comes to justify
a little game of overthrow.

Bono, where's your principles?
Or maybe you're just a corporate whore,
going around, talking peace,
and on the side, selling games of war.

Bono's game of blood,
What up with your game of blood?
Bono's game of blood,
What up with your game of blood?

Early morning, Bono's fantasy,
a shot rings out in the Caracas sky.
Chained and bound, democracy
is exchanged for his false pride.

Bono, hey, you're a real cool cat
with your rock star glasses and your histrionics.
And I hope the Bolivarian Revolution
will show you where to shove it!

Bono's game of blood,
What up with your game of blood?
Bono's game of blood
What up with your game of blood?

I guess your high priced concerts and CD sales
just aren't enough for your big ego.
Maybe you can make a dime or two
pretending to kill innocent people!

I dreamed I saw a capitalist pig
snorting and grunting with glitter and flash,
Little did I realize
it was a rock star chasing cash!

Bono's game of blood,
What up with your game of blood?
Bono's game of blood,
What up with your game of blood?
