'Safeguarding' is becoming a big problem, and not just because it's being weaponised against conservatives, says Mary Gilleece. Children are being put at risk as criminal conduct is tolerated under 'safeguarding' rules.

Over the Moon

category international | crime and justice | opinion/analysis author Monday September 04, 2006 18:03author by Pearl Finn - Vedic Astrologerauthor email pearls at eircom dot net Report this post to the editors

Opinion on why Europe's spacecraft crashed into the Moon yesterday and got abandoned.

Dear scientist,
your promotion material to justify the crashing of a space craft into the Moon yesterday should have read as follows:

"A spectacular event is about to be seen from your front garden. We are inviting you to get out your telescope to witness our extraordinary ability to deliberately crash into the Moon and waste more of our valuable resources. We hope the impact will be powerful enough for all to see. Dumping waste and damaging the property of our neighbours is disrespectful as well as illegal on Earth and we are ‘over the moon’ that there are no such laws to limit our activities in space. The craft will be abandoned at the site of impact and any damage experienced by our kind neighbour will be ignored. That we might rely on the support of this living being for survival is of no consequence. We are scientists, we have no moral boundaries and can inflict any torture we like on our environment. It is beyond our comprehension, despite our learning, that such cruel action might have consequences!

The lawless white man's rule continues to reign supreme and we are glad to see that there isn’t a compassionate voice in our midst that has the power to stop this wanton destruction being visited on our beautiful, majestic world. This action is possible due to those involved having lost the sense of wonder they were born with thanks to their excellent education. The current practise of our poets and philosophers using this spinning rock as a source of inspiration will hopefully discontinue. For too long it has been a font of many songs and ridiculous stories instead of having a practical use. Its time has come to serve us as another place for target practise and ultimately a dump site. Who wants to hear about ‘cows jumping over the moon’ or believes that the loving power that moves the Moon moves through all of us.

Congratulations to all concerned as we continue to cross new frontiers with our weapons of mass destruction. Mother Nature must be delighted to see how clever and powerful her children are.

Ponder on the wisdom of one of our ancestors as you enjoy the show:
“I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.” Galileo Galilei
