It's going to take more than a Supreme Court judgment to flush gender pseudoscience out of the NHS, says Caroline Ffiske. In every policy and definition the NHS has dropped biological sex in favour of subjective feelings.

Food prices set to soar

category national | miscellaneous | opinion/analysis author Thursday February 15, 2007 15:06author by gníomhaí Report this post to the editors

Food prices 'set to soar'. I urge all Indymedia readers to pay heed- this is by all accounts only the beginning....

As reported recently:
12/02/2007

"The price of food and drink is set rise due to spiralling business costs, it was warned today.

Food and Drink Industry Ireland (FDII) said bread, breakfast cereals, soft drinks, as well as canned, packaged and frozen foods are all likely to cost more in coming weeks and months.

Dramatic increases in the cost of energy, services, labour and ingredients have been blamed for driving up food production costs".

Of course, apart from energy costs spiralling due to 'peak oil' , the other main reason is global climate change. Harvests around the world have been failing or down on previous years (the wheat, rice and orange harvests to name just three). We are committed to climate chaos for decades to come, even if we stopped emmisions tomorrow (so failing harvests will occur more frequently) and oil will become increasingly scarce and more expensive. In other words, GET USED TO THE PRICE OF EVERYTHING INCREASING, get used to rising inflation and get used to more and more efforts by governments to keep the masses from getting too uppity in the face of spiralling costs and keeping us under control (such as the Patriot Act in the US and biometric chips in our passports -thanks to the fascist Michael McDowell). In all likelihood, things that are a doddle to afford at the moment will become luxury items in the very near future.

'Just because facts are ignored doesn't mean they cease to be true' . Many will claim I'm being sensationalist or over-dramatic when I say that soon life will be about survival, yet if everyone drags themselves away from the latest episode of 'Desperate Housewives' and starts reading up on the facts, they'll find out just how dire our situation is at the moment. I harp on a lot about growing food, but I'll say it again- get some land with a few friends (preferably elevated land) and start growing food. The days of being able to walk into Dunnes to buy food from Chile/ New Zealand and France are numbered..........
