offsite link Super Flu? More Like Super Hype Sun Dec 14, 2025 13:05 | Dr David Livermore
Present case numbers for the ?K? variant Super-Flu don't justify the hype, says Dr David Livermore. Perhaps it's the media lust for fear porn, or perhaps the Government's fear of the strike, but it's not a Super-crisis.

Blair's little Friend- David Miliband

category international | anti-capitalism | opinion/analysis author Friday November 16, 2007 12:09author by Reductio Ad Absurdum Report this post to the editors

There's lots of Google on him...

Tony Blair had self-nominated David Miliband to take up the cudgels of office in the wake of
his departure from office, but apart from creating a few little ripples the whole idea was
a non-starter for Blair and for Miliband. He got placed, instead in Britain's Foreign Office
and last night he began to use his office to 'make speeches' , which are both unbelievably
crass and inopportune. They involve beligerence against an already pissed off Putin
and a diplomatic word to 'Keep our promises to Turkey', meanwhile in Turkey, a political
party with connections to the PKK is being banned. We all know what that means in Ireland..
Reductio ad Absurdum.:Reduce debate, achieve political consensus and sell off assets
to benefit the wealthy.

Miliband wants the EU to Remember Him and his Ambitions
Miliband wants the EU to Remember Him and his Ambitions

Maybe he is a nice guy, the media seems to love or hate him. there have been stories about
his nuclear connections (much in the same vein as Hiliary Clinton's sponsorship by
Arms dealers) and the speech he made was meant to be controversial anyway:-

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/7095657.stm

He wants the Eu to use 'soft and hard power' to bring people into democracy , but the EU
should not be a 'superpower', interestingly he thinks this will be achieved by the EU
moving into areas of Russia and the Africas. The Lisbon negotiations scheduled for next month
suggest the Africas are unhappy with the EU breach of the Conontou Treay (2000)
and the threat of reduction in aid by its ex-colonisers, whilst Russia has been on alert after
the US attempted to site a missile Defence shield in Poland and diplomatic relations
have been sour since the 'spies' incidents in London.

Blog:- http://blogs.fco.gov.uk/blogs/David_Miliband/

The Speech that occurred last evening was meant to get attention, but in the context of what
is happening in Turkey (who are an EU accession State) and in the context of expansionism
increasing poverty in many cultures through aid disagreements and the use of Freetrade
Agreements to reduce community impetus in political decision-making and create
unsustainable farming methods with attendant social and migratory problems, I think it
was ill-timed and wholly tasteless.

I am tired of pretty white men in suits telling us what is good for us too. He made no mention of
how 'Hard' power will be negotiated in terms of 'Defence Budgetting'.
