China's claim to 'climate leadership' is a geopolitical manoeuvre to counter Trump's narrative, not a pledge of emissions cuts, says Dr Tilak Doshi. Expecting China to join the West's economic self-sabotage is delusional.

Feeding the Demons- A Night of Storytelling with the O-Aissieux

category national | arts and media | opinion/analysis author Sunday January 13, 2008 14:40author by C Murray Report this post to the editors

Adventures and Misadventures-Innovative Story-telling a La Carte.

Dark tales of babies for breakfast and drugged up doctors on muscle -relaxants racing
in dark nights of Belfast operating theatres (in the nineties) provided an evening of food
for those inclined to Carteresque tales and shape-shifters of the Danish variety.

This evening of story-telling of shamanism and shrimps was brought by the good offices
of Coilin- the Oh-Aissieux, of the Narratvie Arts Club:-http://www.indymedia.ie/article/84746.

Baskin's -Birdman

The evening was structured around the 'menu' which was presented to the audience
members on arrival, and I had assumed that the invitation to 'peruse' the menu in the
Events Guide was something to do with food. (It depends how you like your dismembered
babies and inuit shamans...)

The Programmes for the evening:-

Starters:-

'Around the World'
'Meet the Molbos'
'Mushroom soup'
'Sux Races'- (The aforementioned Doctors and nurses)
'The Shaman and the Bolsheviks'
'Sun and Moon'

Main Courses:-

'Mr Silver and Mrs Crozier'
'The Land of Rotten meat'
'Nalikateq'
'Trolls in Law'

Spicy Side Dishes:-

'Shrimp Husband'
'Fish Soup'
'Repo Republican'
'The Shaman's Shadow'
'Moon Woman'

Desserts:-

'Sinbad's First Voyage'
'Sinbad's Second Voyage'
'The Bell'
'The Shotgun'
'The Bumblebee'

All of the above came with little appetising appraisals , the audience gets to choose
from the menu, the Molbos were astoundingly popular and appeared in both Starters and
Dessert courses. They emanate from Mols and are a rustic people who have a unique
interpretation of life and wonderful problem-solving skills involving cow-pats and noses.
The next round of story-telling is on at Valentine's (for some a Lupercal) so I shan't spoil
them by elaborating too closely on the stories...

Mrs Crozier made a re-appearance, understandably , she is undead and seems to
haunt the Library extension of the Bar whenever newcomers and loyal audience
attend to listen and partake in the programme. The show is broken into two parts
with an exhoration by the host to 'meet someone you have not met before and tell
them a story' and some interesting tales did emerge from Venezula, Kerry, Sceilig
Michael and cross country to Derry and Northern Ireland.

There are upcoming workshops and two more evenings to be announced, its a good
way to feed the demons without getting all passive and watching some awful movie.
A final note, it really is best to mind you business if your daughter marries a shrimp
or a troll...(some lessons are hard-learned).
