The power outage in Spain and Portugal wasn't caused by extreme weather, but by an over-reliance on wind and solar. If the UK continues on its headlong path to Net Zero, we can expect similar failures.

Why do we fail to deport those whom we should deport? It's due in the end, says Dr David McGrogan, to an excess of pity. We are pitying ourselves into disorder and social decay. We need to be willing not to be nice.

No More Troops Through Shannon!!!

November 10th- Assemble Central Bank 2pm

Over a million people have now been killed in Iraq and over a million US troops have now passed through Shannon. The occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan continue and many now also believe that an attack on Iran is imminent.

It's time for us to take to the streets again and say No to Irelands involvement.

Solidarity and we'll get as many to the demo as we can but with it only two weeks away, how come theres no posters up around town?

Leave a bundle in Connolly Books and we'll help you out.

Cya at the demo, hope its sunny!

Over & out, Johnny.

Another pointless stroll through Dublin from the IAWM. No doubt we'll have the usual endless speeches including, probably, ones from members of a government party (Greens).

Wouldn't it be better to put some effort into a demo at Shannon, even if the numbers were smaller? There won't be many at this Dub demo anyway.

No coincidence that it's the same day as the HOPOI teach-in.

Suppose it's no point wondering on the reasons why all these observers and cynics come out from the shadows and openly support any anti war initiative taken by the iawm.

1. The Nov. 10th demonstration is supported by our comrades and friends in Shannon and the Clare region. Ed Horgan, speaking at the iawm Conference of Oct 13th, openly called for all anti war activists to support the demonstration. And this initiative in no way conflicts or contradicts any initiative to organise around Shannon.
2. Our information to date is that there will be a few buses coming from Cork, Galway, Derry and Belfast along with friends and comrades from Tralee and the Midlands. Hard to tell how many people will turn up but with the unstinting support of the observers and the cynics our numbers will definitely grow.
3. HOPI militants have known of the date of the demo for a few weeks now. The clash is unfortunate but while a number of iawm activists were thinking of attending the teach-in before and after the demonstration, it may not be inconceivable that a few HOPIs, or their friends, may join the demo for an hour or so either. The anti-imperialist stance of the two organisations dovetails well, does it not?
4. Finally, there has been no decision as yet on who the speakers may/will be - except that we all want to limit the number to max three (3)!! Any suggestions? Any volunteers?

HOPI first heard of the Demo at the IAWM meeting on 13 October. No conspiracies here, neither event was planned to clash with the other. Theese things just happen. During a break at the Teach In, I'm sure a few of us will go down to attend the rally at the GPO for a while.
